Harry Hungwell has stopped posting. Why?

I thought it was a myth and never thought it would happen to me but I believe I have developed something called PIED or "Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction." This is where the hydraulics of the penis seem to work fine and I can still get an erection while watching porn but have lost the ability to get it up with real men in real life. Having this happen a couple of times can quickly lead to a performance-anxiety negative-feedback loop which only compounds the problem. So I am taking a sabbatical away from porn in the hopes of restoring my natural functioning. This is Harry Hungwell, over and out.

The symptoms are this: you can get a hard on for porn but have difficultly keeping it up with real people in real life. This is a relatively new sexual dysfunction problem that has only come about with the invention of high-speed internet porn. In the olden days simply jerking off to Playboy (or Playgirl) and occasionally watching a slow-moving porn movie with stilted dialog was not enough to rewire your brain and cause erectile dysfunction. But today's 24 hour high-speed super-stimulating porn-on-steroids is a different animal altogether. It is happening today to VERY young men because the problem is not with the anatomy of the penis but rather with a rewiring of the brain.

As I understand it the treatment for this problem is to simply abstain from all porn and porn-like substitutes FOREVER. And to refrain from masturbating/orgasm for 2-6 months until strong spontaneous erections return and you feel like you are ready to try real partner sex again.

UPDATE August 1, 2018. It worked! It took 7 months of "flatline" before I came out of it and returned to my normal sexual functioning. Erections with real men in real life are no longer a problem for me. What this experience has taught me is that, yes indeed, too much porn is damaging. For a man to get an erection it requires not only the plumbing to physically work but also for the brain to produce chemicals and hormones. If we orient our sexuality too much around porn these chemicals can become conditioned to respond to what we see on the screen. Then when we are faced with a real life sexual situation these same chemicals do not respond in the normal way and we are left with a limp dick. I learned the hard way that porn can fuck up your sexuality. Everything Gabe Deem, Noah Church and Gary Wilson says is true. Please listen to them. Be careful with porn. Take care.

  2. Yes, sir. This is a sexual dysfunction that has crossed over into young generations of gay people. I often find myself wonder about this.
Thank you so much for your strenuous work in this blog. I wish you the best.

  3. Well sir, it was fun. But I can understand. I guess all this "non-human contact" that has developed due to the net has a price. Similar to younger people not knowing how to behave in social situations because all they know is texting and FB.

Good luck and all the best. And thanks.

  5. As an older man, my experience is much different than yours and I've been doing it for quite a long time, lol. So it doesn't necessarily affect everyone the same way. Good luck to any man on giving up porn the rest of your life! :)

I get harder when I get myself off. But a lot of self pleasure does "ruin" the dick so to speak. You get used to rougher treatment of your dick and then require more forceful stimulation when you do it in person. That is what the problem is. Your dick becomes desensitized. If you're at that point, you may have to jack yourself to get off with anther person. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It's much more fun than doing it alone.

It's been long before the internet that this was a well known problem for men AND the good news is it is reversible. Take a break from masturbating and refrain from stimulating your own dick. it will bounce back just like the old days. May take a few months. That's been widely discussed in porn mags by the sex experts since decades ago. internet porn is no different. At all.

By the way - having sex with an actual person does release much more hormones (pleasurable) than masturbating. It's in the orgasm itself. That's why there is a strong urge is to do it with an actual person even if they don't look like a porn star. If men only jacked off to relieve themselves, we would die off as a species, lol.

For other men having issues: Use a lubricant, even if you are uncircumcised. It'll help you be more gentle with your dick and keep it more sensitive.

Giving up porn, especially as an older man? No way!
